For this project, we read a book named El Ekeko. In the book, there is a Bolivian boy named Paco. Paco is a poor boy in Bolivia, he lives in a place called El Alto, he works as a shoe shiner and works to support his family. Although, Paco has a few enemies that he meets in his experience, he meets two boys, Nicolas and Mateo. Nicolas and Mateo are Paco's bullies and they get in the way of his everyday life, making it hard for him. Paco finds an interesting letter containing writing about an old blockade that the indegenous people were trying to make because the Spaniards take over and their goal is to conquer everything that exists in Boliva, while the indigenous people of Bolivia want to create this blockade to hopefully starve the Spaniards for them to die. Meanwhile, Paco finds a ceramic statue, this statue belongs to the person that wrote the letter, her name was Isidoro. Isidoro says that the mysterious statue can grant protection and good fortune, the name of the statue is El Ekeko. Paco puts a few items next to it and in the morning he finds that to his surprise, all the items that he put down are much bigger than they were when he put them there. He decides to use it for his own good, which makes El Ekeko's smile go away. El Ekeko's purpose in the book is to grant good fortune for those who need it not want it. Since Paco did it for himself, it made El Ekeko sad because he wasn't using it for others but on himself. So he finds one of his bullies which is Nicolas, Nicolas has a big argument with his dad, his dad was yelling at him because Nicolas doesn't have the money to pay off for is sick brother, Paco notices this and starts to feel that it is unfair. Paco then goes over the next day and gives Nicolas a few gifts to help him feel better. El Ekeko is very happy about this and gets his smile back, Paco then decides that he doesn't need El Ekeko anymore, and puts it back where he found it in the closet.
Reflecion de el libro.
I thought that the book was very good, I thought that it had a lot of really good new vocabulary that I can use. I actually learned a lot about what life can be like in Bolivia, reading this book made me sort of reflect on my own life and how I treat others and how hard life can be in Bolivia. I thought that the points that were made in the book like the fact that people in Bolivia are poor is very sad and the fact that some workers that have no choice to do things get disrespected in restaurants or just in public places in general. In the book the author mentions that Paco the main character, is a shoe shiner, he works on the streets of El Alto and shines shoes to get money to support his family. It is sad to me to know that these things are real and that it does definitely happen in Bolivia. Though, another thing that I liked about it was the descriptions of their culture and some of the food that was mentioned in the book.
Reflecion de la escuela.
This semester has been very interesting for me to say the least. I know that I have been absolutely horrible at keeping track on my work, but this new year I have so far stayed on top of everything in the best of my abilities, which definitely makes me proud as a student. Though it is still hard for me to get up and do the work, it feels very rewarding in the end to know that I made the grade that I got in the class that I like. Knowing that I did this or that is very motivating for me and I think that I will definitely be taking Spanish four next year when I become a senior. I think that the most challenging part of this semester has definitely got to be learning the ins and outs of Spanish grammar and sentence structure. I struggle so hard with it and sometimes I just don't know how to write a sentence that would sound correct, I have been learning German as well and I can say that German to me has been very easy for me compared to learning Spanish. The sentence structure in German is so much easier for me to understand (probably because I studied everyday) but I think that the way that Spanish uses sentences is so weird and cool at the same time. From taking Spanish for three years now, I can certainly say that I got much better at grammar. The free writes that we do in class have helped me a lot on how to use grammar properly in a sentence. I have grown a lot since the first year that I took Spanish, even though I failed, I didn't lose my passion for learning language. I have enjoyed every moment in the years that I have had and I honestly wish that I could stay to learn all of it here.

Yo no entiendo.
